Welcome to Life Between Lessons: Where Teaching, Parenting, and Adventure Meet

When I’m not teaching or wrangling little ones, you can often find me planning my next adventure. Traveling has always been a passion of mine, and I’ve made it a priority to share that love with my family. Whether it’s a weekend getaway or an international vacation, travel gives me the chance to recharge, experience new cultures, and create memories with my loved ones. I’ll sprinkle in some travel posts along the way, sharing our family’s adventures and offering tips on how to make traveling with young kids a little easier.

But above all, this blog is about helping others. I know how tough it can be to balance teaching, parenting, and everything else that life throws at us. I’ve been there, and I’m still navigating it every day. Through Life Between Lessons, I want to offer support to other teachers and parents. Whether you’re looking for practical tips on classroom management, advice on surviving sleepless nights with a newborn, or just a dose of encouragement to keep going, I hope you find something here that resonates with you.

As I write, I’ll also be sharing my personal experiences—everything from the challenges of balancing work and family life, to the triumphs (however small) that make it all worthwhile. I’ll talk about the days that feel like they’ll never end, and the moments when I realize how lucky I am to do what I do. I believe that by sharing our stories and learning from each other, we can make this journey a little easier.

So, whether you’re a teacher in the trenches, a mom trying to keep it all together, or someone simply looking for inspiration, I’m glad you’re here. Together, we can navigate this beautiful, chaotic life we’re living. Life Between Lessons is about more than just surviving—it’s about thriving, learning, and growing in all the different roles we play.

Thank you for stopping by, and I hope you’ll stick around as we share, learn, and grow together. Here's to finding balance, embracing the messiness, and making it through life—one lesson at a time.

With love and a little chaos,
Avery Browning

.Hi there! I'm Avery Browning, the voice behind Life Between Lessons. I'm so glad you found your way here. My life is a unique blend of teaching high school students, raising young children, and navigating the daily juggle of both. I’ve discovered that life can feel like a whirlwind, but there’s beauty in the chaos, and I’m here to share my journey with you. Whether you're a fellow teacher, a mom to little ones, or just someone who enjoys a good story and a sprinkle of travel inspiration, I hope you'll find a bit of yourself here.

As a high school teacher, I spend my days shaping young minds in my World History and Current Issues classrooms. Teaching has always been my passion, but lately, I’ve found that my heart beats for something new: blogging. After becoming a mom to two beautiful children—my energetic 3-year-old daughter and my sweet 3-month-old son—I realized just how important it is to find a space where we can all connect, share experiences, and help each other through life’s many lessons. And thus, Life Between Lessons was born.

Juggling the roles of teacher and mom can be overwhelming at times, but it’s also incredibly rewarding. As a mom of young kids, I often find myself wondering how I can be the best teacher for my students while also giving my children the attention they need at home. My goal with this blog is to provide a space where other parents and teachers can come together, share tips, and laugh at the chaos that comes with balancing it all.

I am married to my wonderful husband, Josh, who is my partner in both parenting and life. Together, we navigate the ups and downs of parenthood and support each other as we balance our careers and personal lives. Josh and I have learned the importance of teamwork in this phase of our lives—whether we’re dividing up household duties, planning family adventures, or just finding quiet moments amidst the busy schedules.
